86. TRANSFER OIL DOES NOT CIRCULATE PROPERLY
Probable Cause

Supply valve closed or partially closed
Open the supply valve (Fig 14)
Pump rotation incorrect
Reverse rotation of the
circulating pump (Para 33)
Strainer valves closed or partially closed
Open the strainer valves (Para 37)
Circulating pump motor-to-pump drive
Replace a defective coupling (Para 33)
coupling broken
Pump not primed
Prime the pump with heat transfer oil
Hot fluid strainers clogged
Service the hot fluid strainers (Fig 22)
Air or water vapor trapped in lines
Make certain that vent is open
Circulating pump motor not operating
Reset (Fig 11, Item 1). Motor defective
- replace motor (Para 34).
Circulating pump defective
Replace defective pump (Para 33).
87. CIRCULATING PUMP NOISY
Probable Cause

Circulating pump and circulating pump motor out of

Pump is cavitating
Check to insure that the pump suction valve is
open (Valve C) and that there is an adequate oil supply
in the heater

Check lubrication level. Shaft or gears broken -
