Disconnect alternator wires (17) from
ignition assembly wires (13)
Test alternator, alternator wires (17)
and connectors (18) using volt
ohmmeter as described in para 59.
Start engine and allow to warm up.
Set ohmmeter to 50 VAC scale. Place
ohmmeter leads on each alternator
lead (17) Satisfactory reading is
17 + volts. If less than 17 volts,
replace alternator stator as describ
ed in para 59.
Shut down engine and reconnect
alternator wires (17) to wire
assemblies (13).
Disconnect high tension cable (5)
from igniter (11) by loosening nut
(14). Pull high tension cable through
wall of heat exchanger case (15).
Grommet (16) will come out with the
high tension cable.
When attaching high tension cable to igniter, tighten manually and
turn nut only about 1/4 additional turn. Avoid overtightening.
Connect high tension cable (5) to a
known good igniter using nut (1 4).
Ground igniter to heater and start
engine. Observe for spark, If no
spark or spark is weak or intermit
tent, replace ignition assembly (2).
