4-48 IGNITION CABLE (CONT)

Spring, stud,
If spring (2), stud (3), or connector (4) is

damaged, replace all three with connector kit.
CAUTION
Do not cut back high tension cable more than 3/4-inch.
5.
Cable wire
If cable wire (5) is burned or otherwise damaged,
high tension cable (1) can be cut back to expose
undamaged wire.
6. High tension
To repair high tension cable (1), unscrew spring
cable
(2) and pull high tension cable out of connector
(4). Retain ferrule (6) and nut (7) on high tension
cable during repair.
7.
Stud
Cut off stud (3). Note that the cable wire (5) is
inserted in plain (nonthreaded) end of stud.
Strip cable wire 1/4inch and insert into plain
end of new stud. Crimp with wire crimpers.
8. Connector
Insert cable wire (5) and new stud (3) into con
and spring
nector (4) as far as it will go. Install new spring
(2) on stud.
NOTE
Connect high tension cable to igniter as described in paragraph 447.
