a. Set up the heater in a 32 gallon
(121.12 liter) can and fill the can with
water. Add 5 cups (1.18 liters) of
Scale Removing Compound (Item
14, Appendix E) and stir until
dissolved.
b. Fire up the heater and heat the solu-
tion for 30 minutes. Check the color
of the solution and look for remaining
scale. If the solution is yellow and
there's still scale on the heater, add 5
more cups (1.18 liters) of compound
and heat for another 30 minutes.
c. When the solution remains red or
pink and the scale is gone, turn off the
heat and pour out the solution. Rinse
thoroughly with fresh water.
