Armature
Loosen screws (4), project finger or tool through
assembly
bottom of electromagnetic insulation box (3), and
raise armature (5); tighten one screw (4).
3. Flywheel
Place 1 by 4 inch (25 by 100 mm)
piece of 0.010 to 0.014 inch (0.25
to 0.36 mm) thick shim stock over
magnet (6). Rotate flywheel (7)
until shim stock is directly beneath
armature (5). Loosen tightened
screw (4). Armature will seat firmly
on magnet. Tighten all screws (4).
Turn flywheel (7) so that magnet
is not under armature (5) and
remove shim stock.

Shock or injury may result from working on electrical components.
Take care to ground parts and not make personal contact.
Remove spark plug (2). Clip one contact of spark
tester (Item 1, Tool Kit 291661, Appendix B) to
high tension cable (1) and ground the other contact
on cylinder head (8).
Spin flywheel (7) rapidly. If spark jumps
0.166 inch (4.216 mm), tester gap ignition
is satisfactory. If no spark, replace
armature.
NOTE
Flywheel must rotate at 350 rpm.
