REMOVAL

3. Cap and dipper
Remove rust or burrs from power takeoff end of
crankshaft (2). Drain crankcase oil as described in
paragraph 47. Remove screws (21) and disassemble
crankcase cover (1) from engine block (4). If crankcase
cover sticks, tap lightly with soft hammer on alternate
sides near dowel. Remove crankcase gasket (15) and
discard.
Remove screws (11 and 12) and washers (13). Lift
off cylinder head (10). Discard cylinder head gasket (5).
Remove screws (19) and washers (20) and disassemble
dipper (18) and cap (17).
NOTE
Crankshaft (2) and cam gear (16) do not have to be removed.

Piston and
Remove any carbon or ridge at top of cylinder bore.

Push piston (8) and connecting rod (3) out top of cylinder.
5. Pin locks
Take out pin locks (6 and 14) with thin nose pliers
and pin
and remove pin (7).
