Ball bearings
Remove ball bearings (5 and 6)
in arbor press.
INSTALLATION
Heated bearing may cause serious injury. When handling, use ade-
quate insulating materials to protect hands.
CAUTION
Do not quench heated ball bearing.
5.
Ball bearing
Place crankshaft (1) in vise
with bearing side up. Heat
bearing (5 or 6) in hot
engine oil (Appendix E,
Item 8) not more than
250° F (120° C). Hot bear-
ing will be slip fitted on
crankshaft. Install bearing
(5 or 6) on crankshaft (1)
with shield side down
toward crank. Bearing will
tighten while cooling.
When reassembling engine, if tappets have been re
moved, be sure they are inserted first. Align timing
marks (2 and 3) on crankshaft (1) and cam gear (4)
and insert crankshaft and cam gear together.

Install new crankcase gasket when completing assembly of engine.
