INSPECTION
1. Cylinder head
Inspect cylinder head (8) for warpage, cracks, carbon
deposits, and other damage. Be sure to discard used
cylinder head gasket (7).
2. Crankcase cover
Inspect crankcase cover (4) for warpage, cracks, and
damaged bearing surface. Check for missing or
damaged oil filler cap (1), gasket (2), nipple (3), and
plug (15). Inspect oil seal (17) for signs of leakage or
deterioration. If defective, forward engine to general
support maintenance for repair. Be sure to discard
used crankcase gasket (5).
3. Cylinder
assembly
Inspect for warpage, cracks, and carbon deposits.
Inspect for damaged threads and bent alignment pins
(18). Check governor crank bushing (13) for loose-
ness. Inspect pipe plug (14) for stripped threads and
signs of leakage. Remove pipe plug and check drain
hole for obstructions. Inspect oil seal (12) for signs
of leakage or deterioration. If defective, forward
engine to general support maintenance for repair.
