4-58 IGNITER (CONT)

Remarks
Do not operate heater in enclosed space. Adequate ventilation is re-
quired to prevent buildup of exhaust fumes which can be toxic in con-
centrated amounts.
Wear approved ear protection equipment within 25 feet (7.6 meters) of
operating heater. Failure to do so may result in impairment or loss of
hearing.
Shock or injury may result from working on electrical components.
Take care to ground parts and not make personal contact.
Do not have fuel flowing to combustor during following test. Be sure
burner control knob is all the way up.
a. Follow steps 1,2 and 3 of paragraph 4-58.
b. Assure engine is running smoothly with choke fully open. Refer to para 27.

If there is not a spark or the spark is weak, stop engine.
d.
Disconnect high tension ignition cable from igniter.
e.
Restart engine, hold high tension ignition cable by insulation and place spring end 1/8 inch from
ground.
f.
If there is not a spark or the spark is weak, replace ignition assembly. Refer to paragraph 447.
REPLACEMENT/lNSTALLATION
5.
Igniter
Loosen nut (4) and separate high tension cable (2) and
igniter (3). Install igniter in igniter seat (10). Project high
tension cable through wall of heat exchanger case (5)
and install grommet (6). Attach high tension cable to
igniter.
NOTE
Install inspection port cover as described in paragraph 4-47.
